Trans Health Services
In 2009, CWHC started the Trans Greater Access Project (TGAP), an agency-wide initiative focused on increasing access to affirming health services for trans-identified individuals at CWHC. Through collaboration with community partners and our clients, we strive to provide services that are trans-positive and informed by trans people.
Call 773-935-6126 to schedule any of the services below.
About our services:
• All services are available to individuals who are age 18 or older. For younger indiviudals, we recommend Lurie Children's Gender Development Program for hormone administration.
• Some of our providers have more extensive training in trans health issues; therefore, we invite our clients to request a TGAP provider.
• All services are offered on a self-determined, sliding fee scale.
Services for All Trans Clients:
Appointments with our Nurse Practitioner are available to address general health concerns including screenings, physicals, health education, acute concerns and chronic health issues.
Hormone Therapy (Feminizing and Masculinizing)
Using an informed consent approach, we offer hormone therapy to clients seeking to initiate or maintain gender-affirming hormone therapy. Please request a TGAP Provider for these services.
Our hormone therapy services are a more recent and evolving service. We are happy to give you more information about our informed consent model and approach to care before scheduling your appointment to ensure that we are a good fit for you. As trans care is continuously evolving, we invite clients to offer feedback and input about our hormone administration process.
Integrative Health Services
CWHC offers alternative health care modalities including acupuncture and massage therapy. These complementary health services can help address side effects associated with hormone therapy, as well as support your general well-being and health.
CWHC’s counseling program offers individual counseling, partner counseling, groups, and workshops. We also offer short-term counseling for trans individuals desiring support when initiating or considering hormone therapy.
Our AI program is designed to provide affirming care to a diversity of LGBTQ families and single people who do not have access to sperm. We facilitate and support all stages of this process with consultation, fertility awareness education, and insemination services.
Our gynecology program provides transmasculine and genderqueer clients with access to sensitive basic gynecological care that has been informed by trans people.
CWHC has partnered with Dr. Sarah Ecker (PT, DPT, PRPC) to bring a new range of physical health services to our clients. Sarah is a Physical Therapist who specializes in Pelvic Health: treating the oftentimes complex conditions surrounding the pelvis including urinary and fecal incontinence, painful sex, pregnancy and postpartum pain, chronic and persistent pelvic pain, trauma, and post-surgery recovery. Learn more about these services on our website here.
