Claim Your Power!
Posted on March 5
Join Attorney Max Elliott and CWHC to learn about basic legal documents you need to protect yourself and your family, including LGBTQ individuals, their partners, chosen families, roommates, lovers and friends.
As an estate planner for non-traditional families, Max Elliot believes that everyone should be genuinely educated about available legal options in the jurisdiction where they live.
This basic planning workshop will:
- Educate you about how to claim the power to choose who makes health care and financial decisions for you in the event of an accident, medical emergency, etc.
- Dispel myths about powers of attorney, healthcare proxies, advanced directives, and living wills
- Provide and explain sample documents available online and from the State of Illinois
- Explain common phrases and processes that may be confusing and result in invalidating documents
