Take Action: Speak out for Accurate Sexual Health Education!
Posted on March 16
Last year, the Illinois Senate passed HB 3027, which requires public schools that teach sex education to provide information that is medically accurate and developmentally appropriate. The bill awaits a vote on the floor of the Illinois House, which is why we are heading to Springfield to make our voices heard!
HB 3027 would require schools to provide information this is supported by accepted scientific methods and published in peer-reviewed journals as accurate, objective, and complete. The material would need to be suitable to particular ages or age groups of children and adolescents based on their developing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral capacity. And finally, instructions on both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections will be included.
Join the Coalition for Reproductive Health and Access on March 28th for an advocacy day in Springfield to urge legislators to pass HB 3027! If you are interested in joining us or have any additional questions, please contact Aramide Oladeinde at firstname.lastname@example.org. Transportation from Chicago and lunch will be provided.
