Meet new PCOM folks
Posted on September 17
For more than 5 years, CWHC has been collaborating with Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) to bring affordable, quality traditional Chinese medicine to our clients. Each semester, we welcome a new group of Masters level interns who work under the supervision of licensed PCOM faculty to provide treatments that can include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxabustion and more. Acupuncture is appropriate for a wide range of primary care, acute, and chronic concerns. Our acupuncturists are trained to work with women, men, cis-gender and trans-identified clients and people of all gender identities. PCOM’s generous support allows us to provide services on a sliding scale of $75-20 per session. Call 773-935-6126 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
To get a better sense of who our new interns are, we sat down for a friendly chat with them.
Q: What attracted you to the idea of practicing Chinese Medicine?
A: “I liked the idea of treating the person, not the disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a holistic approach taking into account not only the individual’s physical needs, but also their mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.”
Q: Do you have an affinity for working with a specific area of health? Why should someone consider Chinese Medicine for that condition?
A: “I really enjoy women’s health. I read a study that said acupuncture increases IVF success by 60%. This stuff really works!”
A: “I really enjoy treating respiratory disorders with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I have treated many cases of asthma, allergies, sinusitis, common colds and coughs and the results have been amazing. It is such a gentle but effective medicine which has amazing long-term health benefits. It is a great alternative to many to the pharmaceutical medications for these conditions without the harsh side effects.”
