Education
Health Education is an important part of our mission. We provide health education through outreach and we prioritize it as an integral part of our visits.
Outreach & Education
Chicago Women's Health Center provides workshops and multi-session classes on women's and adolescent health issues in a variety of settings including schools, community groups and detention centers. Our educational programs focus on health information and access to health care with the goal of empowering women and youth to make healthy decisions and prevent disease. We have a corps of trained Outreach Volunteers and a Youth Outreach Worker who are available to present on a wide variety of topics, including basic gynecological care, STD's, birth control, anatomy and hygiene, decision-making and communication, healthy relations and much more. Fertility Awareness
Chicago Women's Health Center offers a 2½ hour Fertility Awareness class on this scientifically proven method of fertility monitoring for the purpose of either preventing or aiding pregnancy. Classes are inclusive and affirming of both single people and couples of all gender and sexual identities. Fertility Awareness is based on charting daily basal body temperatures and observations of cervical mucus. This class is also a great way to learn more about the menstrual cycle and basic female reproductive anatomy and physiology.
The cost for the class is $75 dollars. Sliding scale fees and some scholarships are available. Individuals who sign up for the class are welcome to bring their partners with them free of additional charge. Classes are held approximately every 1-2 months based upon demand.
