Childbirth Education

Chicago Women's Health Center is now offering childbirth education classes!  Classes are inclusive and affirming of both single parents and couples of all gender and sexual identities. The 8 week class will be taught by ALACE (Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators) certified childbirth educator Natalie Evans, an experienced doula and childbirth educator who is passionate about helping people make their own best choices in birth and parenting. The classes explore challenges present in pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. Some of the topics examined are cultural perspectives of childbirth, the definition of normal childbirth, relaxation techniques and comfort measures in pregnancy and childbirth, potential complications and interventions, fears of giving birth, breastfeeding and postpartum care. These issues are examined via many different avenues; the class watches videos, has group discussions and creates artwork as a medium to learn about each individual's perspective on birth. These classes help participants feel prepared to have an empowering birth experience.

The classes will be offered four times a year: September-October, January-February, April-May, and June-July. If you would like to register for our next class or are interested in more information, please contact the childbirth education coordinator at 773.935.6126 x 310 or cbe@chicagowomenshealthcenter.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
