Chicago Women’s Health Center facilitates the empowerment of women, trans people, and young people by providing access to health care and health education in a respectful environment where people pay what they can afford.
CWHC provides care and services that people in Chicago need, but often cannot find anywhere else. Since we opened our doors in 1975, CWHC’s programs have been shaped by our clients’ needs for accessible, high quality health care. We provide services to more than 6,000 clients through our programs annually.
We believe our clients say it best:
“I have learned more here in two visits than a lifetime with other providers.”
“The sliding scale is the only way I would be able to afford health care. I am so grateful for CWHC.”
We treat clients as unique individuals, helping them enhance their knowledge and understanding about their own health care needs. This encourages clients to be self-advocates and active participants in their own health care. Clients consistently express their appreciation for our collaborative approach that respects each individual’s needs and allows time for clients to ask questions, describe concerns, and become involved in treatment decisions.
We believe that financial ability should not define anyone’s access to health care. Since the beginning, we have offered all services on a sliding fee scale. No one is denied services, regardless of ability to pay. For more information about our self-pay sliding scale, click here.
