Volunteer Counselor Job Description

CWHC is a non-profit health center that provides gynecology, counseling, alternative insemination, and health education.  We offer individual counseling, options counseling and crisis counseling, as well as groups and workshops, to women and trans people.  Using a feminist and person-centered counseling approach, we value equality in the counseling relationship; we see our role as providing support and insight into clients' experiences. We pay particular attention to clients' concrete needs as well as the impact of various forms of oppression such as gender oppression, racism, classism and homophobia.  We provide a sliding scale for counseling services as 75% of our clientele is uninsured.

We are looking for skilled masters-level clinicians with an interest in working from a feminist relational perspective on issues of depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, relationships, gender, sexuality, and health concerns.  We strive to have a group of counselors that reflect the diversity of our clients and especially encourage queer and trans identified counselors and Spanish-speaking counselors to apply.
