The Race for Space... CWHC is on the Move!
CWHC is excited to announce that we will be moving into a new location. We need more space to provide sensitive, comprehensive health care to our Chicago clients, so we're looking for a new, larger location.
What? Tell me everything!
We've just begun our search. We're looking for a handicapped-accessible space of at least 5,500 square feet that is close to public transportation. We'd like to stay on the North Side. If you know of a place that might work, contact us at (773) 935-6126 or by email.
Why move now? You've been at your current location for 28 years.
Well, we've spent that time growing. In the past several years, CWHC has expanded its much-needed services in every area: the Gynecology program has doubled its staff; both our Counseling and Alternative Insemination programs are at maximum capacity; and we've added two evenings of acupuncture in partnership with the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.
Demand is high for competent, compassionate, and affordable health care. All of our programs have waiting lists and the wait for a gynecology appointment sometimes exceeds two weeks. A bigger space will enable us to help more clients, and to help them in a timely manner.
How much will it cost?
We have to raise $150,000 before we can move; our capital campaign starts right now! We're busy writing grants and planning fundraisers, but you can be a part of this historic event by making a donation. Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy with a generous contribution:

Are you going to raise your fees?
CWHC was founded to make health care accessible regardless of an individual's ability to pay and we stand by that. We will continue to offer all services on a sliding-fee scale.
I have furniture/computers/medical equipment that I'd like to donate.
Please call us. We will need that kind of equipment, but we don't have a lot of storage space right now.
I don't have anything to donate, but I'd still like to help.

One last question: is the new location going to have 70's-style wood paneling on the walls?
Probably not. But like our current location, it will have vintage posters, feminist artwork, sprawling plants, and a big, warm heart.
